CHIBUKU Super Cup winners Dynamos were yesterday fined heavily for their role in the chaos that marred the start of the  final against Triangle United at Gibbo on November 29.

The Premier Soccer League had withheld Dynamos’ US$75 000 prize for scooping what became a record third straight Chibuku Super Cup title.

While Dynamos will now keep the silverware and force the sponsors — Delta Beverages — into unveiling a new trophy next year, they will not retain every dollar from the prize money.

This is because the PSL disciplinary committee slapped them with a US$4 500 penalty for their part in the pre-match skirmishes that forced a 20-minute delay to the start of the final, which they eventually won 1-0.

The league’s disciplinary arm also handed US$300 fines to each of the technical crew that was headed by Kelvin Kaindu.

Ex-DeMbare striker Takesure Chinyama, Thomas Ruzive and Thulani Muzambwa are the other members of the technical department who were fined.

Dynamos officials protested the use of match balls branded exclusively by Triangle United, arguing that the balls were “not natural” and should have been neutral and provided by the tournament sponsors or the PSL.

This led to a 20-minute delay in the match kick-off.

Dynamos had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges of bringing the game into disrepute before the PSL Disciplinary Committee had sat to deliberate on the matter.

Yesterday the committee issued their verdict via the PSL.

They charged Dynamos with “causing disorder that delayed the start of their Chibuku Super Cup match against Triangle United FC on November 29.

“After considering the submissions made, the Disciplinary Committee fined Dynamos FC a sum of US$4 500. In addition, the technical officials were each fined US$300,” reads part of the statement.

Kaindu, who was head of the technical crew during that cup final has since left Dynamos to join newly promoted Central Region Soccer League champions Hardrock.

The Zambian gaffer is, however, still expected to pay the fine.

On their part, the PSL will deduct the fines from Dynamos’ prize money.

Dynamos are currently on the hunt for Kaindu’s replacement with the incoming coach expected to lead the way in assembling the Harare giants’ 2026 squad.

It is also not yet clear whether DeMbare will commit to representing Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup after deciding against entering the 2025 edition of the continental body’s second-tier inter-club competition.
